Problem.
Excessive paperwork reduces labor productivity in laboratories. Managing data manually is time-consuming, error-prone, and can be dangerous. Holo4Labs aims to change this by offering a mixed reality experience that will improve the daily duties of laboratory employees. Designing an interface that would ensure the safety and efficiency of scientists' work was therefore the most important challenge.
Solution.
We designed a mixed reality interface that is nonintrusive to the user. It enables data access with HoloLens, control the environment using voice commands and hand gestures, and scan the samples. The interface also guides scientists through the process, ensuring safety at the laboratory.Sketches, storyboards and preliminary designs let us create an interactive prototype we used to test our assumptions with lab workers before designing the UI.
